Information for Parents – Spring Term 2018

Year 2

Topic for this term:

Muck, Mess and Mixtures

Any further details about this term’s topic:

This term our topic is Muck, Mess and Mixtures.  This topic has a creative development focus with lots of opportunities for creating their own art work and finding out about famous artists. During the topic the children will be learning about healthy lifestyles and keeping safe around medicines and household products.  In maths we will be concentrating on the topics of money, time, measure, weight and capacity. Literacy sees us writin poems, stories, instructions and recounts.

Days which PE kit will be needed:

Monday, but it would be useful if PE kit is kept in school every day in case of changes to the timetable. Also please pop a spare pair of pants and socks into the kit. Please label all items clearly with initials or names?  We will be going out as often as possible so please ensure your child brings a coat to school every day.

Please ensure all items are labelled.  It is impossible to keep track of items if they are not and it is easier for the children to become more independent in looking after their own belongings

Any other ways parents can help (e.g. help needed with readers, items that can be sent in related to the topic )

Books will be sent home on a Friday. Please can they be returned the following Friday.  We would appreciate it if you would listen to your child read for a short time each day, encouraging them to read with expression and fluency and to discuss the storyline and letter formation.

If anyone is able to help on Wild Walks we would be very grateful.

Any other general reminders.

Your child will need a healthy snack at break time.

On Wednesday’s children in the Foundation Phase are able to wear non uniform as Wednesday’s will consist of exciting Wild Walks and Theme days.

Otherwise, please ensure that the appropriate school uniform and footwear is worn.

Many thanks-Mrs Anthony
