Paws, Claws and Whiskers

This project has a science focus and will enable the children to find out about different types of animals. We will spend the first few weeks learning about how to look after different pets and are due to have a visit from a local Vet; who will be able to share personal experiences and further information with the pupils. Following on from this, pupils will learn about farm animals and then finally, in the last few weeks we will investigate more exotic animals, which you may find in a zoo or while on safari.

Winter Wonderland

In this topic, pupils will have the opportunity to explore ice and snow. The children will gain an understanding of the processes of melting and freezing. We will also discuss the changes of the seasons and festivals that are celebrated during this time of the year. Pupils will continue to develop their maths and numeracy skills through investigating symmetry in snowflakes and changes in temperature.

Days which PE kit will be needed : PE/Games will be on a Tuesday, Children will need their swimming kit.

On Wednesdays please can children wear old clothes and on Wild Walk weeks, a spare set of clothes would be a good idea.  It is getting rather cold, so please ensure you child have sufficient layers and gloves, hat and scarf.

If you have any information or knowledge that you could offer on different types of animals or have an unusual pet and are happy to share your experiences with the children, please get in touch.

We would appreciate your support this term with listening to your child read regularly. Book bags will be sent home on Friday’s, please ensure that these are returned to school on the following Monday.
